Discovering Your Community:

Under the guidance of Allison Luizi, Director of MN Compass, you'll learn to explore your region's demographic diversity, specifically the people and languages. We're dedicated to meticulously analyzing all accessible data to understand our regions and patrons better. In addition, time will be allocated for you to create a comprehensive community outline that can be used to bolster collection development, programming ideas, and strategic decision-making.

Selecting Multilingual Materials:

Learn to procure materials for diverse linguistic groups effectively, even if their languages are not your own. This session allows you to apply these skills and develop an acquisitions strategy. This session is led by Chelsea Couillard-Smith, a Senior Librarian at Hennepin County Library.

Conducting a Diversity Audit of Your Collection:

Elizabeth Hoffman, the director of Plum Creek Library System, will guide you through a diversity audit of your collection. This process provides insight into the composition of the collection, its origins, and what elements require removal or addition. You will have additional time to practice what you learn with Elizabeth's support.
